About
Optos was a medical technology company that developed a patient-friendly instrument capable of capturing a digital image of nearly the entire retina, known as an ‘Optomap’. This technology enabled optometrists to screen for a range of conditions—including diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and age-related macular degeneration—which can be effectively treated if detected early.
The company was listed on the London Stock Exchange in February 2006 and was acquired by Nikon for $400m in 2015.
