Amadeus Capital Partners, the European technology investor, has announced the promotion of Nicolas Brusson and Jason Pinto from Associate to Investment Manager.

Nicolas joined Amadeus Capital in 2007, having previously worked with Gemfire Corporation in California, where he had worked since 2001, initially developing fibre optics products and then managing operations and co-founding GC Holding. He is also a founding investor of Comuto, an internet peer-to-peer travel company. A graduate in Photonics and Applied Physics with an MBA from INSEAD, Nicolas has been part of the Amadeus teams working on Secerno, Octo Telematics and Intune Networks.

Jason Pinto joined Amadeus in 2006. Previously, he had worked with E Ink Corporation in Cambridge Massachusetts, where he was a lead member of the technology and product development team that commercialised the first electronic ink display, deployed in Amazon’s Kindle. A Materials Science graduate of MIT, with a PhD from the Cavendish Laboratory at Cambridge University, Jason has been a key member of the Amadeus teams working on Forth Dimension Displays, EnQii and Edgeware.

Commenting on the promotions, Amadeus CEO Anne Glover said: ‘We have been impressed with the rigorous contributions made by Jason and Nicolas to several of our portfolio companies and the way in which they have both adapted their industry experience and specialist knowledge to the opportunity of identifying world-class technologies and building profitable companies.’

The two promotions come at the end of a busy twelve months for Amadeus that saw profitable exits, including Secerno, bought by Oracle, and EPiServer, bought by IK; seed investment in Ambient, the company behind mobile app, Flook; new venture investments in Octo Telematics and AMEE and follow-on rounds in existing portfolio companies, including Cambridge Broadband Networks, Nujira and Celltick. The year also saw portfolio company, Aepona, attracting strategic investment from both Blackberry Partners Fund, the venture funding arm of RIM, and SAP and, in October, serial entrepreneur, Alex van Someren joined the team.
