Barak is a partner in Amadeus Capital Partners Limited, specialising in semiconductor, wireless and optical technology industries. He joined the firm in 2001 and has led several investments. He is a non-executive director on the boards of the Amadeus investee companies: Power Paper, which has developed a platform for mass producing low-cost, thin and flexible energy cells; PowerID, a spin-out from Power Paper, concentrating on radio frequency identification (RFID) battery assisted, passive (BAP) technology; Negevtech, which designs, manufactures, and markets wafer inspection systems for the semiconductor industry; and Forth Dimension Displays, which develops and manufactures silicon-based micro-displays.
Prior to joining Amadeus, Barak created and managed the Wireless business unit at ANADIGICS in the US before becoming Vice President and Managing Director of the company's operations in Europe and the Middle East. Prior to this, Barak held a variety of engineering and management positions for companies as diverse as Elta, based in Israel, and Tachonics and M/A-COM, based in the US.
He holds both a BSc from Tel-Aviv University and an MSc in Electrical Engineering from Rutgers University, New Jersey, and several further management and business administration degrees. He holds three patents and has frequently contributed to technical publications, including Wireless Design and Development Magazine, where he is an advisory board member.
Barak holds UK and Israeli citizenship, and is fluent in Hebrew and English.
