TeraView, a Cambridge-based instrumentation company, has developed a unique technology to emit and detect THz (Terahertz) light, which lies at frequencies between infrared and radio waves. The company is a spin-out from Toshiba Research Labs, where the management and technical team had worked together for many years.
TeraView harnesses the remarkable diagnostic and inspection properties of terahertz light to provide unique 3D image and spectroscopic measurements. The company’s main focus is delivering solutions for drug discovery and formulation to the pharmaceutical industry, but TeraView’s products also address a number of other applications, such as security and material characterization in electronics.
Amadeus Capital Partners Limited first invested in the company in 2003, when it led a second round of £6 million with the participation of first round investors, TTP Ventures, Cambridge Gateway and Quester. Amadeus also co-led the following round in which KT Ventures (investment arm of KLA-Tencor) has joined the list of investors.
