Ridgeway Systems and Software was established to provide secure solutions for Internet Protocol (IP) multimedia communications. The company's software suite, IPFreedom, enabled end-to-end IP voice, video, data and web collaboration on existing networks through corporate firewalls, where such traffic would normally be blocked, without requiring the upgrade of existing enterprise infrastructure. The Ridgeway software was scalable and standards independent.

In November 2002, Amadeus sold its stake in Ridgeway to the venture capital company, LMS plc.
