Portrait Software specialised in developing Customer Interaction Management software, helping enterprises to build more responsive, more profitable customer relations. Portrait's software allowed customer data from disparate sources to be integrated into a single homogenous view of the customer. In addition, the software allowed for real-time automated interaction with the customer so that for example when a customer rings in to a call center, the operator will be instructed by the system what message to deliver to the customer, for example offering a discount based on loyalty credits.

Portrait had an application platform suite with built-in business process management, which was valuable for customer-critical processes. It can also be applied to building new customer facing applications, which integrate easily with legacy systems and which are all based on a service-oriented architecture.

Amadeus originally invested in Quadstone in 2000, a leading predictive analytics company, which was acquired by Portrait Software in 2005, an AIM-listed company that focuses on development of customer interaction software.
