Entropic Research Laboratory was a speech recognition software company. Thanks to the success of the applications it developed for voice-enabling the web via mobile operators, it was acquired by Microsoft in November 1999.
Amadeus originally invested in the company on the strength of its belief in the speech recognition market and its faith in founder Steve Young. Amadeus helped the company reorient its strategy from the outset, introduced two customers, hired a new CEO from the US with experience in their market and raised the first round of finance. Amadeus was instrumental in the negotiations with Microsoft, an investor in Amadeus.
