Active Navigation provided software for navigating large unstructured databases that reside on either a corporate intranet or the public internet, allowing companies to analyse, organise and summarise information held in a large universe of diverse documents and formats. Portal Maximizer summarised text and then used dynamic hypertext linking to allow companies to integrate information held or accessible from these many sources.
Amadeus was involved with the company since it was spun out of the University of Southampton. The firm helped Active Navigation reorient its sales strategy from a focus on managing the corporate intranet to developing products that allowed integration of both internet and intranet information sources. Amadeus sold its interest in the company in November 2004.
